Garage doors · Tilt doors

Tilt doors.

Garador doesn’t sell new tilt doors: they swing out, blow shut and leak at the sides. If you have one, we can repair and re-track it, or replace it with Flex‑A‑Door, which fits the same opening with as little as 80 mm above it.

Repair

Keep the door you have.

Most tilt doors can be kept going for a while yet, whatever the brand.

  1. Springs and pivot arms

A tilt door hangs on two springs under real tension. When one tires the door gets heavy, sits crooked or won’t stay up. We replace the springs and reset the balance.

  2. Tracks and fittings

Garador still makes tilting-door track fittings, so a worn or bent track can be replaced without replacing the door.

  3. Locks, cables and handles

A worn lock, cable or handle can stop the door working.

  4. When to stop using it

A door that slams, drops or hangs off one arm can hurt someone. Leave it where it is and call us.

Replace

Flex‑A‑Door fits where the tilt door was.

Garador’s replacement for the tilt door: a roller curtain on a curving track that lifts to lie flat near the ceiling. It fits behind the opening, needs as little as 80 mm above it, and won’t blow shut in the wind. Removal of the old door is part of the job.

  • Openings 1.2 m to 3.15 m wide
  • Headroom from 80 mm by hand, 130 mm with an opener
  • Colorsteel® colours; the roller-door look

Why not a new tilt door

The trouble with tilt doors.

  • Needs the driveway clear

The whole panel swings out before it goes up, so nothing can be parked close to it.

  • Blows shut, and lets the wind in

A gust can slam it, and the gaps each side let the weather through.

  • Springs under tension

Exposed springs and pivot arms are the parts that fail, and the parts that hurt people.

  • No new ones from Garador

Garador makes sectional, roller and Flex‑A‑Door doors, and still supplies tilt-door track fittings for the doors already out there.

Can you repair a tilt door that isn’t a Garador?

Yes. Springs, arms, tracks, locks and cables are standard parts on most tilt doors, so we can usually fix them on the spot.

Is it worth repairing, or should I replace it?

If it’s one tired spring or a bent track, repair it. If the panel is rusted or warped, or the frame has moved, the money is better spent on a Flex‑A‑Door, which fits the same opening. We’ll tell you which at the visit.

Will Flex‑A‑Door fit where my tilt door is?

Usually, yes. It needs as little as 80 mm above the opening when opened by hand and 100 mm each side, and it fits behind the opening, so arched and odd-shaped openings work too. We confirm at the free measure.

Can a tilt door be automated?

Yes. Garador’s sectional door openers also fit tilt doors. An old door on an opener is hard on tired springs and arms, though, so we check the door first; a Flex‑A‑Door with a Garador roller-door opener is the dependable answer.
